Hey, how about some marketing ideas. Lets put them all here. Crazy, whacky, good and possibly good marketing ideas should all go here. This way they only have to click on one blog to check out some hopefully great ideas.

Q: Where do most of the people that know about Painesville Speedway reside?

A: Painesville

Given this, there needs to be marketing outside of Psinesville to bring in new customers. How about a car show in Willoughby, Euclid, Willowick or Wickliffe. Highly populated areas that are about 20 minutes from the track. Its a good previously untargeted area. Anyone at the car show gets a $5 off coupon. Counting the coupons utilized will keep track of the new customers they influenced to come out and watch. Its a great way to build a larger fan base outside the Painesville area.  I would gladly find somebody that would host this. I know lots of people with parking lots to hold the show and I would gladly ask them.

Maybe work with Thompson raceway to get a few drag cars out there too. A race car show. I know you I would check that out. Have some merchandise and set up a promo booth. Great for sponsors too!!!

I can definitely make it Friday and probably Saturday. Just hope word gets out if we are racing on Friday so we can have some fans in the stands. PLEASE update the website soon with this decision so everybody can prepare!

My favorite driver used to be George Puskus #33 when I was a kid. I think thats how you spell his name. He owned a shell gas station in Painesville where my Dad used to get gas or service. He raced a Camaro and it was my favorite. My two older brothers and I always cheered for him. We didn't really know him but my Dad did, so he was our favorite.

The answering machine at P'ville states that we are racing July 12th with the rollover competition etc...  So they at least plan on having a special event along with racing. Thats a good start. I would have to say the message could sound a little more exciting! LOLOL *shakes head*

 I will do my best to get my machine there and ready to race. Just replaced transmission last night, but its untested. I was told its good and I hope thats true or I won't be so happy.

    Stop complaining.... just buy the same tires that Bo has and then you will be equal right????  I have nothing against Bo and never race against him. I know he sure can drive good and he sure gets the best stuff for his car. Guess what.... you can all do the same thing if you want to spend the money. Every division has its best cars and most expensive rides and some people have better stuff because they commit more money towards the sport or just have more money to spend on it.   Some people just drive really good.

    I plan on running the F-8 on Saturday and also plan on losing. I will not win, but if I finish the race then I will have a darn good time. I don't plan on hitting anybody, but it sure will be close and maybe I will hit somebody. Maybe I will try to sneak through and get smacked myself. Oh well! guess I have to fix my car then. Its fun and it costs money no matter what way you look at it.

   You want to spend all your money on racing, then go ahead, nobody is stopping you. If you don't have enough money to keep your car on the track then sorry, but its expensive to race, maybe you should join a chess and checkers league instead.

  I raced Painesville for about 8 years and ownership never really gave me a problem. Gordon Allen, I feel was a nice guy as far as I was concerned. We never shared a drink or went to dinner. I just showed up most every week and raced my car. It was fun because I was racing. Seriously, tech was just as bad or as good as it is now. Lots of drivers cheated and several drivers seemed to be track favorites and there were even some legal cars with good drivers that did well.  Oh well, I had fun anyway. I see the same thing going on today. Jim C. never said I can't race at Painesville, he never threw me out of a race, he never called me a bad name. I do recall even being welcomed by him at the races and also by others at the track. Bateman even has said "glad to see you back Drew" one time. You know what, it was good to race there again.

  I bet, as long as my car holds up, I will have fun racing there the next time. Its fun and I love the 8. I really don't care who the owner is! 

   Beyond my personal experiences, I know that a lot of drivers were thrown out of Painesville in the last few years and those drivers had reletionships with other drivers that decided to leave at the same time. Those people have family and friends that no longer show up. Bad news spreads faster than good news. Well, those drivers were thrown out for a reason.

   I think the show is formulated by the track but made by the drivers. We need more figure 8 drivers. We need to get people out of four cylinders and into affordable figure 8 cars. Truly, my engine sucks in my 8 car and I will never win a heat, unless ever other car in the race breaks down, lol. I don't care because the 8 is fun with lots of cars. Its a race, not a demo derby, but there are some monster motor cars that are just going to blow away some other rides. Accidents happen! I am happy just to race it. If I finish in the top 5, then it pays for the night and I had a ball.

   Really, we need to have good clean racing fun that entertains families and welcomes new ones. When there is a fight or something else stupid going on, then families leave. Quit the fighting and demo driving and race.  I know countless people, friends and family that won't come out because of the way the drivers act. That has nothing to do with the owners!!!! Wreckless driving and stupid fighting keeps fans out. The owners give us a place to race and the drivers need to actually race. Quit fighting, holding grudges and taking vengeance every time somebody bumps your car.

   I am hoping to race Painesville next week. The Joker Poker needs a trans and an intake leak fixed. Hope to have this rectified after this weekend. I do plan on finishing the season at Erie with my other car and hopefully race Painesville again at the end of the season. I just hope its still around. I truly enjoy racing at Erie. Its a very professional atmosphere and the drivers, staff, ownership and fans are wonderful. Even though it all sounds perfect, I love racing at Painesville. Its the best short track around! Exciting, rugged, and packed with action. Unfortunately, I could no longer maintain a competitive trophystock unless I spent a load of cash. Ultimately, I did when I went to Erie, but my car has only truly been in one accident and the track is so welcoming and so great at promoting the drivers and their cars. I just couldn't justify racing at Painesville with a high dollar car, knowing it would just get smashed by some ridiculous accident. So, Craig and I bought the Joker Poker figure 8 car.  I hope Painesville stays so I can get back in the 8. Its way too much fun not to race Painesville. Cya soon! Drew

   Racing is fun. Its not for money. If you are racing for money, then you are in the wrong sport, Unless you are Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, etc... you are are racing to have a great time for yourself and maybe also your friends and family that are helping you along the way.  Its competitive, time consuming, costly and often quite a bit of work. Given the amount of effort, the actual racing part makes it all worthwhile. Its great when you do well and obtain the results you were working towards. It could be a victory or just an improvement from last race. All racers want to win and we all want to have fun. There are wrecks, tough breaks, close calls and just that one bolt you forgot to tighten that cost you the race.

   If you are not having fun, then you shouldn't race. Sure, racing can be very frustrating. Maybe thats the motivation for one to get their car ready the next week and go racing again, even when you had the worst race or luck the week before. So far, I have had the worst luck in racing ever this year and its my ninth year in racing. Oh yeah, its frustrating. Regardless, if you cant handle yourself at the track and respect other racers that work hard on their car to make it out to the track and race just like yourself, then maybe you shouldn't be going racing at all. All these other racers have families, friends, jobs, limited time, etc... and these drivers make up the track that at which you are racing.

   Keep racing fun. There is only one driver behind the wheel of the race car, but it includes a lot of other people to get the car on the track. The driver, families, friends and fans and track owners and promoters make up racing. We all need a track to race at to do all of this racing fun. Everybody needs to do their best at making racing FUN and keep it that way. Focus on something positive and we are all more likely to get positive results.
