Hey guys,
I have been reading all the posts and it really sounds like the fans and the racers all feel the same way. This is unfortunate...I am a huge racing fan and used to go everyweek to Painesville since 1995. However, I now go all over the tri-state area to see races. I have only been to Painesville once this year and not sure If I will go back and until the end of the year Last year was the deciding year for me, when they decided to get rid of the Sportsman class instead of tyring to do some Marketing to get more racers to the track. I was at a dirt track last week to watch some sprint cars and there was 5,000 people in the stands and 48 sprint cars and like 20 Super Late Model cars. The track was a whole in the ground to be honest, however they fronted $5,000 to the winner and $1,500 for the Super Late Models. Now i have no idea what kind of money Painesville pays out to winners, but if you dont pay, racers wont show up, and if racers dont show up, fans wont show up and pay big money to see the racing. It is the old saying that you have to spend money to make money! I do believe that if they could, (could being the word hear) put money into the track itself to make it bigger/update it etc. that might help too. Painesville is the smallest track in Ohio (although in the past have had some great action) maybe it is time for a face lift and some really good marketing!! To the current and past drivers of Painesville: Thanks for the action and best of luck to everyone! Maybe see you at the races!
